Lactation Consultant
You can access the services of our Lactation Consultant free of charge when you have birthed and/or stayed postnatally at River Ridge East Birth Centre. For more details check out our Breastfeeding Support information. Call us to make a booking, or click here to send us a message. If you didn’t birth or stay at River Ridge East Birth Centre, we would also love to provide support to you. The cost for a consultation is $75.

Hearing Screening
Every morning the Hearing Screeners from Waikato District Health Board visit River Ridge East Birth Centre to complete the Hearing Screening checks. Through hearing screening, early detection, diagnoses and intervention can occur so that all babies have the best start possible.

We offer a range of Weleda products for sale that you can purchase from reception.

Packing List - What to bring for your stay
River Ridge East Birth Centre will provide you with some of the necessities you and your baby will need for the first few days (for example maternity pads, nappies and baby wipes). At your Antenatal Classes you will be given a list of suggested items to pack, and your LMC midwife may also suggest things you will need to bring for labour and birth, and for your postnatal stay. We also have a suggested list of what to bring with you for your stay. Find it here

Maternity Acupuncture
The Maternity Acupuncture Clinic is run from the Hub building next to River Ridge East Birth Centre and focuses on pregnancy, childbirth and the postnatal period. For more information check out www.altews-midwifery.com
Birth Photography
If you wish to capture the arrival of your new baby into the world, River Ridge East Birth Centre welcomes your chosen photographer into the birth room and/or postnatal room.

Placenta Encapsulation
Placenta encapsulation is the practice of encapsulating the placenta to be made into pills for ingestion. Click here for more information. If you wish to encapsulate your placenta, let your LMC know. We can safely store your placenta until it can be collected.

Kowhai Tui Childcare
When the time comes to think about childcare, check out Kowhai Tui. We have a long standing connection with the childcare. In fact, the Kowhai Whare building was cut up into three pieces and moved from the River Ridge East Birth Centre site, out to Rototuna over 20 years ago to allow the Birth Centre to be built.

NZ College of Midwives
The College is governed by a National Board comprising a number of nominated and elected representatives from throughout New Zealand. Representatives include rural midwives, urban midwives, educators, students, consumers, Māori midwives and birthing women.
NZBA
The New Zealand Breastfeeding Alliance (NZBA) is a collaborative of breastfeeding member organisations established in 1998 to promote breastfeeding in New Zealand.
WINTEC
Based in the Waikato, one of New Zealand’s most thriving regions, the Waikato Institute of Technology (Wintec), is one of the country’s largest institutes of technology.
La Leche League
La Leche League provides help and support for breastfeeding mothers. The organisation also has a wide range of reading material on breastfeeding. Contact can be made either before or after your baby is born.
